The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State Counselling Authorities for seat allocation.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is an all-India entrance examination conducted once a year for admission to MBBS. The NEET Undergraduate (UG) is the only entrance exam for admission to all the medical institutes spread across the country including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) according to the NMC Act, 2019.
The All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) was replaced by the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG), popularly known as (NEET-UG) from 2012 onwards. NEET is a competitive entrance exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) until 2018 for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. National Testing Agency (NTA) National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organisation to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.
NTA is the newly formed body by the centre to conduct JEE Main (I) & (II), NEET-UG, GPAT, UGC NET, CMAT, etc. entrance exams from 2019 onwards, taking over the management of these exams from CBSE and respective boards. At present, 15% of the total seats in all medical and dental colleges are run by the Union of India, state governments, municipal or other local authorities in India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, are reserved for candidates who pass this examination.
The exam covers topics from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Candidates appearing for NEET shall prepare thoroughly in order to secure a good score.

The duration of the paper is 3 hours. Each correct answer attracts 3 marks and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. For every unanswered question, marks are neither awarded nor deducted.
The National Testing Agency is the main body responsible for releasing the NEET Cutoff score. The NEET qualifying percentile score is expected to remain the same for different categories. As per the latest trends, the expected cut-off marks for NEET 2022 is 50% marks for the general category, 45% marks for PH candidates and 40% for candidates from the reserved category. Last year the NEET qualifying marks for 2021 were more than or equal to 138-720 for the general category and 108-137 for OBC/SC/ST categories.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET 2022 cutoff is going to be of two types- qualifying cutoff and admission cutoff. The NEET qualifying cutoff is the minimum marks required to pass the entrance exam. Whereas, the admission cutoff of NEET 2022 is the last rank at which admission is granted. Ans : NEET Exam comprises 180 questions, each weighing 4 marks, hence the total sums up to 720 marks. For every incorrect response, 1 mark is deducted. If a question is left unattempted, no marks are deducted.
